Autumn has officially ended and the oxen are here

This past week, Magda, Gerlinde, and Julia have been busy getting a fresh batch of clarified rumen fluid ready.

Once again Schlachthof Mayr has kindly provided us with high quality rumen content from oxen that have spent the summer months enjoying the Tyrolian alpine idyll. 3 days were spent sieving, pressing, autoclaving, and centrifuging the fresh rumen content as quickly as possible and now, 25 liters of clarified rumen fluid are sitting in our freezers, ready for their big moment on the stage of science.
