As you might know, one of the objectives of the HiPoAF project is to look into potential novel habitats of anaerobic gut fungi. Novel habitats also mean potential new C-sources for our fungi.
Hence, Julia and Bachelor student Cora made use of the sunny blue sky weather and roamed into the mountains around Innsbruck in search of Erica...Ericaceae.
Back in the lab they unpacked the blender and turned the collected Ericaceae into a nutritious green powder. This powder will function as C-source in our next experiment series.
