Julia Vinzelj, MSc.

2018: Master’s Degree in Molecular Microbiology. The master thesis on ribosome biogenesis („Gaining Export Competence and Losing Nug1“) was done within the Bergler & Pertschy research group at Karl Franzens University, Graz, Austria.

2019 – today: PhD student within the research group of Sabine Podmirseg & Heribert Insam at the University of Innsbruck, Innsbruck, Austria.

As a PhD candidate within this project, Julia will focus on the search for anaerobic fungi in new potential habitats and the development of two novel AF specific detection techniques. Additionally, she will also serve as a link between the collaboration partners, fostering scholarly and social exchange through regular visits and/or research stays.

We are a team of scientists from Austria, Germany and Switzerland working closely together combining microbiology, biotechnology and bioinformatics to investigate potential benefits deriving from the biotechnological usage of anaerobic fungi.
