We are happy to welcome our guest researcher, Mr. Wantanasak Suksong, in our midst. Originally from Thailand, he will stay with us for 9 months. During this time, he, Sabine Podmirseg, and Julia Vinzelj will investigate the microbial composition of swamp samples from Khuan Khaeng Hot Spring Forest Park (Katang, Thailand). The main interest here lies, of course, in anaerobic fungi. If anaerobic fungi are detected by PCR, isolation and cultivation of them will be attempted.
