A major milestone for the consortium: FUNGAS was awarded the Biogas Innovationspreis Gold 2026 for its contribution to the future of sustainable biogas production.
The FUNGAS consortium is proud to announce that the project has been awarded the Biogas Innovationspreis Gold 2026 at the Biogas Innovationskongress in Osnabrück, Germany.
Sponsored by the Deutscher Bauernverband e.V., the award recognizes innovative approaches with the potential to advance the future of sustainable biogas production. The distinction highlights the promising role of anaerobic fungi in improving the utilization of lignocellulosic biomass and increasing the efficiency of biogas processes.
FUNGAS was represented at the congress by Veronika Flad from the Bavarian State Research Center for Agriculture (LfL) and Claudio Kalbermatten from the Swiss project team. During the event, Claudio presented the project's latest research activities and shared insights into the consortium's ongoing work. Veronika Flad accepted the award on behalf of the FUNGAS consortium.
The congress provided an excellent platform for exchange between researchers, industry experts, and practitioners working on innovative solutions for renewable energy and sustainable agriculture. Numerous discussions highlighted the growing importance of interdisciplinary approaches and novel biotechnological tools for the future development of the biogas sector.
Receiving the Gold Award is an important milestone for the FUNGAS project and reflects the dedication and collaborative efforts of all project partners, researchers, students, and contributors involved in the consortium.
The FUNGAS team would like to thank the organizers, participants, and supporters of the Biogas Innovationskongress 2026 for fostering valuable dialogue between science and practice and for recognizing the project's contribution to innovation in the biogas sector.
